Audi is making a bold move to democratize premium electric mobility with the introduction of the new Q4 40 e-tron, an entry-level variant that combines impressive range with luxury features. This strategic addition to the Q4 e-tron lineup demonstrates Audi’s commitment to making electric vehicles more accessible while maintaining their premium positioning.

Range and Performance That Matters

The new Q4 40 e-tron comes equipped with a larger 63 kWh battery (59 kWh net), enabling an impressive range of up to 412 kilometers for the standard SUV model and 423 kilometers for the Sportback variant. This significant range makes it a practical choice for both daily commuting and longer journeys.

Performance hasn’t been compromised despite its entry-level positioning. The Q4 40 e-tron can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.1 seconds, with a top speed of 160 km/h. Power comes from a permanently excited synchronous motor (PSM) delivering 150 kW (204 PS) to the rear axle, ensuring both efficiency and responsive power delivery.

Fast Charging Capabilities

When it comes to charging, the Q4 40 e-tron doesn’t disappoint. It supports DC fast charging at up to 165 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes under ideal conditions. Even more impressive is the ability to add up to 150 kilometers of range (155 kilometers for the Sportback) in just 10 minutes of charging.

Smart Features for Modern Drivers

The new model introduces several innovative features that enhance the ownership experience:

  • Manual battery preconditioning for optimized charging performance
  • Predictive maintenance reminder system through the myAudi app
  • Built-in ChatGPT integration for enhanced voice control
  • Audi application store with a complimentary 25 GB data package
  • Advanced navigation with detailed charging station information

Premium Standard Equipment

Despite its competitive starting price of €46,150 (€48,150 for the Sportback), the Q4 40 e-tron comes generously equipped with:

  • Audi MMI navigation plus
  • Audi connect navigation & infotainment
  • 10.25-inch Audi virtual cockpit digital instrument cluster
  • Electric tailgate with gesture control capability
  • Heated front seats

Practical Utility

The Q4 40 e-tron isn’t just about luxury and technology; it’s also practical. With a towing capacity of 1,000 kilograms (at 12% incline) or 1,200 kilograms (at 8% incline), it’s capable of handling light towing duties, making it versatile enough for various lifestyle needs.

Market Positioning

With this new entry-level variant, Audi is making a strategic move to capture a larger share of the growing electric vehicle market. The combination of premium features, impressive range, and competitive pricing positions the Q4 40 e-tron as an attractive option for buyers looking to enter the premium electric vehicle segment.

Orders for both the standard SUV and Sportback versions of the Q4 40 e-tron will open in mid-February 2025, with deliveries expected to begin shortly after. This launch represents another significant step in Audi’s commitment to electrification and making premium electric mobility more accessible to a broader audience.
